Duration: 3 months
Format: Saturday live sessions with mandatory attendance, plus flexible self-study
Certification: Level 3 CAVA (Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement)
Prerequisites: 5+ years of experience after achieving a Level 6 interpreting qualification
Application Deadline: April 11th, 2025

What Sets This Program Apart

Unlike generic teaching qualifications or general train-the-trainer courses, our program is designed explicitly for the interpreting profession. Led by Helena El Masri, with over 20 years of experience in interpreter training, the curriculum addresses the unique challenges of training individuals to achieve a qualification and develop their interpreting skills effectively.

Helena will help you develop core skills and a unique training methodology. This will help you design effective learning activities, create assessment materials that accurately measure competence and provide constructive feedback that facilitates growth.

Once you complete the training, your new expertise will help you manage virtual classrooms for optimal learning, use digital tools specifically for interpreter training, and assess interpreting skills in face-to-face and remote environments.

You will be able to evaluate performance based on assessment criteria, consistently and fairly. You will be able to document assessment decisions professionally, ensuring quality assurance in the assessment process.

Earn While You Learn

A distinctive feature of our program is the practical, paid assessment opportunities integrated into the certification process. This “earn while you learn” approach means you’ll apply your new skills in real training environments.

You will be able to generate income during your certification journey, building a professional portfolio before graduation. Through guided practice, you will gain confidence to provide training immediately after graduating.

Hear from Ivona:

As a professional looking to develop my skills in tutoring and assessing interpreters, this program was a transformative experience. Since completing the course, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in my ability to tutor and effectively assess interpreters. My business opportunities have expanded, and my career prospects have brightened thanks to the new abilities and confidence I’ve gained. I became one of the tutors for the DPSI Online Community Interpreting Level 3 course and was also offered opportunities to assess and tutor interpreters for other companies.”

Career Pathways After Certification

Graduates of our program have pursued various professional opportunities. Amongst them: tutoring for interpreter training programs with different course providers; assessing and examining for different training organizations; developing curriculum and resources for training providers and even consulting on interpreter training standards.

What’s more, you will be able to dictate your fees based on having a nationally recognised assessor qualification.
