The Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting is the essential entry-level qualification for interpreters seeking paid assignments across the UK. This exam-only route is designed for experienced interpreters who require a formal qualification to advance their careers, fast.
Certified community interpreters can find opportunities to interpret in various sectors including: Education, Health, Mental Health, Charities, Social Services, Welfare Benefits, Housing and Immigration.
The exam assesses your ability to interpret consecutively and provide sight translations, ensuring you are well-equipped to handle public service interpreting tasks effectively.
Exam Format
The Level 3 Community Interpreting Exam takes place fully online on Zoom. It is structured into two parts, designed to test your practical interpreting skills:
- Part 1: Consecutive Interpreting – A Role Play. You will interpret between an English speaker and a speaker of your other language within community settings.
- Part 2: Sight Translation – You will sight translate a short, written document from English into your other language.

Monthly Availability: Exams are conducted monthly from February to November, on set dates.
